These tall buildings, in addition to being artistic, are a source of national pride and cultural identity... but their construction is not new to humanity and since the time of the pyramids in Egypt, humanity has been exhibiting these extraordinary monuments. Modern materials such as concrete, steel and glass are one of the reasons for the success of these colossal buildings. Concrete for its versatility and glass, which became popular after World War II, as it illuminates interiors better and is cheaper than concrete. Building a skyscraper that stands out is a challenge taken up by the owners of the many skyscrapers along the waterfront in Doha, Qatar. Following the success of the 2006 Asian Games and the demand for office space, 180 towers are planned for the West Bay business district in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Hundreds of cranes filled its spaces and rose into the sky... creating hotels, offices and financial centers that turned Doha into a world-class business city.
